The Cesare — Borgia Series Folding Cinquedea
“The Cesare” is a full-size folding interpretation of the Renaissance Cinquedea, measuring 310 mm (12.2”) overall. Designed for collectors of historical and mechanical knives, it combines period-correct proportions with a modern folding architecture executed under a patented overall design.
This model draws directly from 15th-century Italian blade forms while incorporating proprietary engineering solutions developed specifically for large, high-performance folders.

Engineering & Mechanical Design
Notched Slipjoint (French Cran Force)
To manage the leverage of the 138 mm blade, the knife employs a reinforced notched slipjoint system. This historical half-lock configuration provides a firm stop and controlled closing, reducing the snap associated with oversized folding blades.
Swing Guard
A hardened stainless-steel folding crossguard deploys automatically when the blade opens. It preserves the historic silhouette while reinforcing the pivot area and improving hand protection.
Ultra-Small Radius Triple Hollow Grind
The blade is ground from Böhler N690 stainless steel and heat-treated to 60–61 HRC. The complex triple-fullered geometry requires extremely precise grinding and results in both structural efficiency and a distinctive visual profile.

Handle Construction
Stabilized bog oak scales are fitted over hardened stainless-steel liners. Titanium bolsters and pommel are machined to fine tolerances to balance the knife’s substantial 234 g weight.

This piece pays tribute to Cesare Borgia through engraved heraldry, his portrait, and his personal motto:
“Fais ce que dois, advienne que pourra” — Do what you must, come what may.
925 sterling silver medallions are inlaid into the handle as part of the decorative program.
